Thanksgiving 2014

The Thanksgiving holiday started for us with Lilly's Thanksgiving Feast at her preschool. Her class sang cute songs, waved a lot, and prepared a 'feast' for the adults. The feast consisted of Jello, carrot sticks, corn bread and pumpkin squares. I got to eat the feast in the gym with Lilly and her class. She crafted placemats and table decorations. It was very adorable. This was the first time I have been able to go and see one of my kids preform in a school event (since Lilly is the oldest). I found the whole experience to be wonderful. I was a proud Mom!

Lilly is on the bottom row with the great big smile on her face.

We had another small but nice Thanksgiving this year. Tyson did most of the cooking which makes it a wonderful day for me. When it was time for turkey Lilly refused to eat anything. Since Lilly doesn’t eat often we really didn’t think anything of it. The food was delicious and the company was nice.

In the evening we decided to try a Wirick tradition and do a Pie Night. We had a good turnout of friends. During Pie Night Lilly started getting really clingy. I could tell she wasn’t feeling well so I took her temperature. She had a fever of 104 degrees. We ended up quarantining her upstairs while she watched Frozen. She was sad she couldn’t be with all the kids but I would have felt bad if everyone else got sick.
Look how miserable Lilly looks here.

We forced her to smile in this one.

One with all of us.
The fever wasn’t breaking and it was making us really nervous so we let her sleep in the bed with us. It ended up being a 24 hour thing and she was feeling well the next day. We finally took her to the doctor about three weeks after Thanksgiving because she kept getting those crazy high fevers. She ended up having strep. Poor girl, it was not a fun Thanksgiving for her.

One thing I miss about not being home with family during Thanksgiving is the day after shopping trip with the girls. I don’t want to do any of the crazy Black Friday shopping but it was always a fun tradition to go shopping with the girls. After all the work he did on Thursday, Tyson did not want to go shopping with me and I couldn’t bring Lilly because she was sick. (And I wouldn’t bring Bennett because he is naughty while shopping.)  I ended up going to a couple of stores by myself but it was a little lonely.
